In the middle east, the blazing sun has begun to set in the desert. A man, David, having dragged his camel hundreds of miles, sits down in a small tent. He unpacks his food for his nightly meal. A smile alights his face. He grabs some laffa bread and dips it into the hummus his mother had made for him, many nights before. He brings it to his face, about to take a bite when... In Turkey, Aldem picks his last olive from his family groves for the evening. He loves the work and one day he will inherit the olive groves from his parents, just like his many ancestors before him. He walks inside his family home that has stood there for hundreds of years. His mother and father are busy plating the meal. A satisfied look crosses his face as he sees that they've prepared as part of a meze, the traditional hummus with pastirma (a salty meat) his personal favourite. He grabs some hummus and pastirma when... In Australia, Adam and Candice grin at each other. They've just made another batch of spicy jalapeno hummus with an array of things to dip into it. They look upon the table and see the brioche, carrots, celery and falafel. With excitement, they both load up their plates about to take a bite out of the delicious hummus when... David, Aldem, Adam and Candice suddenly feel a sense of connection. David takes his first bite, sits back with a grin on his face. He basks in the deliciousness of his mother's home made hummus. Aldem digs into the pastirma and hummus, a hard days work in his olive grove only adding to the satisfication and deliciousness of the meal. Adam and Candice dive into the spicy hummus, dipping all of the fresh food into it whilst eating all that amazing falafel. They all share a singular thought in the same moment, how amazing is hummus! Hummus is enjoyed all over the world. It's one of those foods that everyone loves and it really does bring people together, so of course, we had to try it! This recipe comes as part of an amazing dinner we had, made to us by a member of the family, Amanda, who in turn got it from Ronnit Hoppe from Balaboosta. We've adjusted for one of the versions as we like it spicy! Hope you all enjoy! Hummus
