Candy Peanuts

​A cool breeze. Cherry blossom leaves float to the floor. Tranquility and stillness. Jinn breathes deeply, his sword slowly lifting up and down as he waits for his move. A life time of battles. He takes a pause and knows that what is to come next will determine the course of his future.

Arika, over 200 miles away, breathes heavily. She calmly pulls out of her pocket some candy peanuts and takes a bite. She smiles. She takes her sword out of her sheath. She can see the siloutte in the distance. Jinn. She knows that today will be the day that either she will die or he will die. She thought back over the encounters that they'd had. She knew it had all come to this one moment. This one moment that would decide the couse of her future.

Jinn slowly takes out of his pocket some candy peanuts. He takes a bite. He smiles, takes a deep breath and then, with full intensity, he yells his battle cry and pushes himself from the floor. Instantly, he is in front of her. Thousands of cherry blossoms fly around them and their swords connect.

Sheer coincindence. Destiny? Fate? Who knows. Both of their packets of candy peanuts drop to the floor in a singular moment. They both freeze. They stare at the packets, candy peanuts everywhere, a shocked look in their eyes.

"You like... candy peanuts?" Jinn asks... a nervous expression on his face. Arika, a similar expression, the years of battle with this one man, enhancing the shock that she was feeling. "Yes... you as well?" Arika responds.

Jinn drops his sword. "Kill me if you must... but... after all these years, I want you to know my true feelings, that I..." Arika quickly responds, cutting him off. "I... I feel the same." She picks up a candy peanut and hands it to him. "No more talking, Lets eat." They sit there on the floor, the cherry blossoms blowing around them and they smile, content in their hearts.

Candy Peanuts

Main Ingredients

2 egg whites
2 tbsp of water
2 cups of unsalted peanuts
1 cup of white sugar
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of salt

Preparation

1. Preheat the oven to 120 degrees Celsius, fan forced.
2. Crack two eggs, splitting the egg whites from the yolks and put the whites into a bowl. Add the water and beat this mixture, until it’s bubbly.
3. In a separate bowl add the sugar, cinnamon and the salt. Mix it, so that it’s well combined.
4. In another bowl, add the yolk and water and mix with the nuts. Mix well, so that the nuts are completely covered by the mixture.
5. In a large bowl, mix the nuts, sugar, cinnamon and salt until the nuts are completely covered.
6. Lay the nuts down on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Put the tray into the oven and with tongs, every 20 minutes, mix the nuts. Bake this for 1 hour.
7. Transfer to some baking paper to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Delicious!
